We interrupt this scheduled informative momentous post for an appreciation and gratitude one this week. I want to say THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who ordered, picked up, or stopped by the Branding Iron Bistro on Saturday for our little book launch event. It was so incredible to see so many former players, some with families now, parents, community members, and even meeting some new people who have followed our journey. Branding Iron was an incredible host and I am very thankful for the Allen family allowing me to use some of the floor space in their amazing business.
In many ways, today feels like a relief that Building the Empire is now out there for people to read. I hope that it brings you at least one full day in Jim Valvano's vision of laughter, emotions, and thought provoking moments throughout the book. I know I was blessed to be able to have a lot of those days throughout the writing process. Please know that as you are reading, if there is ever a part of the book that jumps out to you as cool, curious, or especially memorable, I would LOVE to hear about it. As I listened to speeches at a wedding reception last night, the father of the groom spoke to the fact that it takes a village to raise a child, and while the son they raised turned out to be an amazing young man, it took a village to help raise him that way. I feel the same level of appreciation and gratitude in completing this project. There were so many people that were a part of our story, and even more that were a part of the process of creating this book. So, again THANK YOU all for being a part of the Empire we call Pierre and making it such a special place to live and raise a family!
On one final note and as a measure of accountability, I am almost through my second draft of the second book I have been working on entitle Momentous Leadership. Once I finish up that (hopefully before football season), I will then pass that onto the editing phase which can hopefully take place during football season and then touched up afterwards. While there is a good amount of track ahead on that one, I am hoping for an early 2027 release! Even more fun is I have semi-plotted out another project that I will share more about it the not too distant future. Thanks again for following along on this journey, I appreciate you and am looking forward to hearing your favorite moments from Building the Empire.
